Who’s That?
Flame sensed that her Mama was leaving when she began throwing her clothes into a large plastic zip bag. But the filled bag stood stoutly in Mama’s bedroom until one week later…
It was a hot and cloudless day when Mama suddenly dragged the large bag into a waiting 4WD car. Flame ran out after her, her four short legs in a mad frenzy. The driver of the car saw Flame running towards Mama, stooped over, scooped Flame up and carried her into the black vehicle where Mama silently seated.
Flame rested her chin on Mama’s knee. After about half an hour in the car, Flame began to notice a different smell in the air. Flame pricked up her nose and sniffed carefully. The air smells like salt, she thought.
Then, the driver pulled into a seaport and stopped. Flame’s Mama opened the car door and got out. Flame jumped up in a panic and rushed as fast as a Cocker Spaniel could to go with Mama out but Mama reached out a fleshy hand, ruffled the hair on Flame’s head, and shut the door with Flame inside.
Mama then opened another door at the back of the car, dragged out her large zip bag and walked into the waiting ferry, pausing only to let the ticket inspector look at the paper in her hand.
Flame could only watch from the car, her large brown eyes as wide as could be. That was to be the last that Flame saw Mama… until

Mama’s sudden return 4 months later!

Can Flame ever forgive Mama for leaving her behind? I think it depends on how good Mama is at tickling her inner ear.
