Who’s More Powerful? The Girlfriend or the Mother?

This year, Mothers Day will fall on May 11th. Flowers prices will hike up significantly but not as much as it does on Valentine’s Day. This is interesting because everyone has a mother, but not every one has a significant other.

Does this mean men are not naturally prone to gifting women, and only do so when they’re chasing after her or when there’s significant peer pressure? Does this mean mothers wield less power over their children as opposed to the power that girlfriends/wives yield? Or does it simply mean mothers prefer Osim massage chairs to pink carnations?
