When I was very young, my brother told me of his schoolmate who suffered from really bad acne. The teenage boy went to consult a dermatologist who provided a very harsh but effective treatment for acne. The treatment was so harsh, the skin on his face dried, peeled and cracked after that.
Since my skin is dehydrated instead of oily, I have never suffered any major problems with acne. I get one embarrassingly huge pimple right on top of my nose every once in a while though, so I still need to know the various acne treatment available.
I have noticed that despite the huge price difference between various brands, most carry the same percentage of salicyclic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Despite that, some of my friends swear by Proactiv which apparently works when others don’t.
Is there a difference between the various brands I’m not aware of? What’s your experience?

I have rather bad acne and I had to go to the dermatologist for help. Currently, I’m taking some oral medication to help clear it.
Over the counter creams aren’t always equal even if the percentage of the active ingredient is the same. I think that you have to try out a few brands before you find what works well for you. I’ve tried them all and they don’t really work that well unless you catch the zit early.

Mintea, which oral treatment are you taking? Have you tried the Diamond Herpanacine?

Actually, screw the medication. I’ve had skin so bad it’d kill a horse. I spend thousands on medication and guess what. External treatment works much better and lasts for the long term. Medication suppresses it, it does not cure it.

Hey Ecstacy, I’m interested in Herpanacine because it’s a bottle of herbs. I thought acne is caused by oil and bacteria on skin. How does medicine suppresses it? Does it suppress the oil?
