What if Your Mum Steals Your Identity?

You know how credit card companies are sending us offers all the time in the mail? The other day, I read about a woman whose own mother opened those letters and signed up for a card. When the card arrived, her Mum opened her mail again and accepted the card on her behalf.

Her Mum started using the card and by the time she found out it even existed, Mum had already accummulated a sizeable amount of debt.

Well, what would you do if you were in her situation? Will you report this to the police as identity theft so that you won’t have to pay off the mountain of debt?

I know for sure that in most Asian societies, we will do whatever we can to pay off the debt instead of reporting it. A teacher once taught me that Caucasian families greatly value justice but Asian families value honor.

To be safe than sorry, signing up for lifelock can prevent your identity from being stolen, even by your own parent.
