Visiting Aunty Yip at an Old Folks Home

The last time I visited an old folks home was more than ten years ago. I vividly remember how overpowering the stink from the toilets were, and how numerous senior citizens lived in one open hall. Even though many of the seniors were still mobile, they were just lying on thin mattresses, waiting for time to pass.

Last week, I was invited to visit Rumah Sejahtera (House of Prosperity) another Old Folks Home where homeless senior citizens can take refuge. To my surprise, this home is much better. It has a huge garden although the plants were getting wild without regular pruning, and each elderly shares a room with only one other. In the kitchen, a bent old was resting on a little stool. We approached her and her eyes twinkled as she smiled.

Some of the ladies who have visited her monthly told me that more than ten years ago, a pastor have visited Rumah Sejahtera and shared with Aunty Yip about the sacrifices Jesus have made so that she may have eternal life. Like a little child, Aunty Yip accepted the gospel as truth.

One month after that, Aunty Yip boldly told her visitors that while they were away, Jesus have taken her to heaven to view her own room there. As her good friend encouraged her to recount the experience, I recorded her with my mobile phone.

(In Cantonese)

Truth be told, I wondered if Aunty Yip may have attended a church regularly when she was young. How else would she know these details about Jesus that perfectly matches the description of Him as recorded by more than 40 authors in the Bible?

I can’t be sure of her past experience but from her testimony, I’m sure of these -- Aunty Yip is absolutely certain that Jesus loves her dearly and has prepared a room in heaven for her. She praises Him regularly and is thankful to have Him as her Savior and God.

PS: Aunty Yip is not the only person whom all-loving and all-perfect Jesus have taken to visit heaven before. Click to read another testimony.
