Joyfully tilling the soil, yeeha!

The world is beautiful and delicious with a dSLR!

Since the Canon EOS 1000D is a beginner’s dSLR, I didn’t expect the photo quality to be much different from my compact camera. After all, the compacts are up to 10megapixels these days, I assumed that my compact must have caught up. :)

Skyscraper kuih

I spent the day using the EOS 1000D to snap lots and lots of photos of my brother’s wedding. When I finally saw the pics on my pc screen, I literally gasped!

The world is shining!

Everyone and everything is happy!

And it is not just because it is my brother’s wedding. The colors are so vibrant when taken with this camera, the images look like they are popping out of the screen.

I feel as though the photos were making me stare at them! Now I know why guys get into accidents when a woman walks past – you just can’t help staring at beauty!

Foods made by family and friends not only tastes yummy, they look even more droolicious when taken with the camera. Now I know why popular food bloggers all use dSLRs. I never knew that my compact camera made everything look grainy and dark until I have seen the comparison.

Fresh charcoal-grilled satay

When using my compact, I usually switch off the flash because I felt it made everything look angry and severe. With the EOS 1000D, I left the flash on all the way. It gently lightens the photo without looking artificially white. Everything look as beautiful as they are in real life.

My favorite kuih – tastes like chewy durians. Yum!

I didn’t think I will be able to handle a dSLR as I didn’t know anything about apertures, shutter speeds and all those boring stuff. But when this was placed on my hands, I instantly got a feel for it and knew how to handle them. *ahem*

Haha, I just left it on Auto mode and went click, click, clicking away, all through the day. The camera is so easy to use, it is lots and lots of fun.

Even without adjusting any of those technical stuff, everything turned out too beautiful and delicious for words. It made me realize, life is too precious to miss these moments out. I need a dSLR!

Any one got one to sell??

  1. Hi Cheng Leng, Yup once you see the beauty of a DSLR, you’ll never want to go back to compact again! I’ve never owned a compact camera in my entire life, and nowadays DSLRs are getting cheaper, so it’s more affordable. But in order to get the most of the camera, you need to learn about all those technical stuff. Bit by bit, and you’ll surely improve!

  2. Hi Grace,

Thanks for commenting. The photos you took for Alfred and Geeta’s wedding are stunning!

I’ve only had the dSLR for one weekend and am so hooked already. Now I know why photography enthusiasts are enthusiastic.

What if the hook gets deeper? What if I get my first dSLR and starts to desire upgrades and bigger lenses and on and on and on?

    • It isn’t the hantaran. It is kuihs that my mum and dad’s friends made for the wedding day itself as we were hosting some guests at our house.

      The durian one is delicious!!

    • Thank you for the warm welcome. I haven’t officially joined the club yet as I am still in the process of getting a dSLR of my own.

Am looking through your photos now. Are you based in Malaysia? You seem to have captured a lot of country shots.

  5. The rate that you guys are shooting making us photographers that try to make a living to really watch our behind.

Photography is just fun, fun fun. Wait til you make a nice photo album out of it. It will be lovely on your living hall table when your 2nd aunty’s aunty’s son in law from la la land comes and visit you.

Keep the photos and writing coming.

  6. With this, I personally bid you welcome to the all-new DSLR Club of the WHITE SIDE aka Canon (eek!!!) Regarding lenses, what are you using lately? As for me I still have to utilize my 2 lenses (the 18-55mm IS and 50mm f1.8) for now – whilst waiting for an IS telephoto and the BG-E3 for my EOS400D – well if u want a batt grip u may have to wait a little longer – perhaps a BG-E6 shall come up for your 1000D??

    Cheerz and all the best!
