The Python snake at my house

Shed python snake skin by my house's water system
Every once in a while, my brother and my dad will uncover the planks that hides our house’s water system. They will peer into the hole, discuss, peer into it some more. It is all very manly and mysterious. Me, all I do is dip my feet into the pond water when I feel like cooling off.

Today, my brother and my dad did that again. They opened it up and saw the shed skin of a python snake. And then they thought, if there is a snake skin here, there must be a snake somewhere, right? They looked around, my brother was the first one to spot it.

I went to look at it too. Whoah. Can you see it under my foot?

Can you see it all curled up?

Can you see it now?

It is amazing. It is living. It is breathing. Its body shrinks and expands with each breath. Suzana tried to poke it with a stick.
My neighbour and my maid, excitedly chatting about the snake at my house
My neighbor came out to find out what’s the excitement at our house all about.

It’s still there, it wriggles a bit but otherwise, it doesn’t seem to be moving out. What do you think we should do about it now?

  1. Cool, we dont have that big snakes here. At least its not venomous but perhaps it could be dangerous to one of your dogs. At least the small ones. I say catch it and let it loose in the forest or give it to a zoo or something…

    • I hope that doesn’t scare you from visiting. :) You are right, it is not poisonous, but it may constrict the breath out of you. I’d love to witness it being caught by someone else, perhaps a zookeeper, but after leaving it as it is overnight, it’s left.

What kind of snakes do you get in Sweden? They must hibernate during winter, right?

  2. Eeks! Did you call pest control?

Erm, my erhu need a new skin…

  3. Hmmm….. Cook it and eat it?

OK, kidding. Maybe send it to the zoo?

  4. DK, can lend me your car? I need a vehicle to send it to the zoo.

  6. The confessions are coming up. My Dad says he spotted the python at our house a month ago. My Mum said she spotted it when it was only one foot long last September! I wonder if it’s been living under the same planks all this while. And where are its siblings if it grew up here?

  7. *goosebumps*
ohmaigawd…ur doggie still can lie there blissfully =.=

  8. Update: Monday 6th April – the python is back at almost exactly the same spot!

  9. What’s the update lately? Did u get it out already?

    • Hmph! Mum and maid killed it! Maid lured it out, mum picked it up with a stick and threw it out of the house, maid took the stick and WHAM!

It’s not good news, I wasn’t looking forward to sharing this. The python should have gone to the zoo.
