I’m not very good at being a friend.
To tell you the truth, most of what I learned about being a friend, I learned from my pets. It may sound insulting, but they did show me brave loyalty, patient listening ears, forgetfulness and most important of all, forgiveness.
And after all these years, my pets are still better at being a friend than I am. Oh dear!

To be honest, when I was first invited to the launch of the Intel Montevina processor chip, I wondered how this was going to be presented.
After all, the Montevina is not a slice of cheesecake that we can taste and um our approval. This is a tiny tiny chip that’s invisibly embedded inside laptop computers.
So I thought, may be we will be gathered to sit in a circle while the chip is passed around. When it lands in my hands, I will stare and pretend to be able to see exactly what’s inside that’s made this chip so valuable. I’ll even discreetly stifle a shocked gasp.
And I thought, I’m sure they’re not going to pass the Montevina around in a simple petri dish. Perhaps they will gently place it in a beautiful little parcel. When the gong strikes, the CEO will tug at the ribbon that’s holding it together and let it fall.
