Today from 1pm -- 4pm, more than 500 Singaporeans will be standing in front of Plaza Singapura at Orchard Road to wish you a loud, resounding “hello.” The “Hello” Volunteers hope that with a kind voice and a twinkle in the eyes, they will bring warmth to colder souls.

I think they will ooze so much warmth, they will turn everyone into smiley ladies who crochet baby booties while sipping tea at Starbucks, as long as they tip their head to the left and the right like this cute giraffe.

In fact, I just heard over the P.A. system that tipping the head to the left and right is a new rule for all “Hello” Volunteers. If you are a “Hello” Volunteer, take note.
