New Zealand Working Holiday For 6 Months

It was a cool and breezy night. Feeling the mood to do something highly risky and dangerous, I opened a browser tab to http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ and submitted an application for a six-month Working Holiday Visa. Three days later, I received an email.
Working Holiday Visa approved
Now that I’ve got the working holiday visa, I felt a mixture of tingly excitement and guilt.

Imagine if Cali Lewis had won the Australian Reef Job contest (woohoo!) and couldn’t bring her husband along (oh no!). It took me another 3 days to get my voicebox in order and tell the boyf that I had applied and they had approved. I timed it to be mentioned at the end of a long phone conversation when he had to run off to another meeting. He didn’t respond and I thought that he didn’t catch my words.

Later that night…
Boyf approval :P
Woohoo!!! I can’t believe the boyf is so kind not to lay on a mountain of guilt. I would have perfectly understood if he had made me feel like pond scum. If it was him who was going for six months, and to New Zealand, and without me, Oh ho ho ho ho!

So, the Winter Ski Season begins in June. I’m thinking of going in mid-July.
One thing I know for sure – when I’m there, I will definitely miss Malaysia’s endless summer.

Now, onto the trip preparations! Yeahh!
