Today I am going to talk about something that a discreet woman should not talk about in public - the blackheads on her nose.
Confession: I used to host an army of blackheads on my nose. They were so stubborn, it was tortuously painful at facials when the beautician tried everything she can to get them out.
Thankfully though, I have found a gentle but noisy way to brush them out. It sounds like this, “Brrrrrrrrr!” Roll your tongue and say it with me. “Brrrrrr!”
It is a facial massager from Watson’s and it costs SG$19.90. Just switch it on and the brush head will twirl.

Here’s how I use it.
First, I wash my face the usual way with my usual cleanser except that I don’t splash the cleanser off.
Then, I switch on the massager and run it all over my face. It’s like how the guys polished my marble floor.

Here’s a good tip: Do not wet the brush before you use. I know you like to wet your toothbrush before brushing your teeth but this does not go inside your mouth. If you wet this brush, the water that’s caught between the bristles will splash all over your clothes, neck, shoulders and even into your eyes!
See how I can keep my eyes wide open when using it? That’s the comfortable way. The bristles are so soft that it feels soothing to have it brushing your face.
I was taken by surprise at how effective this is. The gadget has saved me from a lot of expensive facials.
PS: I am not showing any before and after pics. Believe me, my nose is perfect now!

Hi Rinaz, I discovered the manual ones AFTER I bought this battery-operated one. I think the bristles from this one is softer. Is the manual one effective for you? My nose was a complete nightmare before I started using this tool.

I think the manual one works great too … just a small bit of soap bubbles up so much using the facial brush
So whats your ‘best beauty buy’ if this is your second?

I think the manual one sounds good because you can control the speed so it won’t splash all over your neck and clothes whereas the battery-powered one is good because it scrubs a lot more than we do with our own hands. Unless you are so rajin to scrub for very long…

Thanks for the tip! Will go get one!

Thank you for the tip Precious! I was figuring out why there was an enormous amount of black heads on my face just the other day. Now that you have blogged about it and it’s affordable to purchase it, I am so going to get it!

Phyllis, are you in Singapore? I haven’t seen this in Watson’s Malaysia but I have seen it in Sg.
If you’re not from here, let me know if you’d like me to help you get it.

Hi Hillary, I am from Singapore.=) I went to the Watsons at Bugis Junction and Paya Lebar Post Center today but I couldn’t find the cleansing brush.=( May I know which branch of Watsons you bought it from?

I bought it from Watson’s Bedok. It is called a Facial Massager, you’ll get 4 heads with it and the picture on the cover shows it with a different head so it might look a bit different.
Look at the same section as the Watson’s Face Steamer, Hair Straightening Iron and Eyebrow Trimmer. I am sooo sorry that you had to run around to look for it.
Hmm.. may be I’ll go to Watson’s tomorrow and take a photo of the box so you’ll know what to look for. I have thrown my box so I can’t show you.

Hi there, thanks for explaining and describing it to me, I think I have seen it before! And no worries about my trips to the Watsons at Bugis and Paya Lebar, I happened to be shopping at Bugis and I live very near Paya Lebar Post Center, so it’s no problem at all. I will buy it tomorrow, can’t wait!!

Hi Hillary, I bought the massager last Saturday and just used it this morning. I initially expected it to be a little rough and harsh but it’s actually very soothing to use! And yes it cleanses very well, my skin felt very smooth after using it. I used to use Loreal’s Microdermabrasion scrub and I must say, this cleansing brush from Watsons is comparable to the scrub. Thanks for the great recommendation!=)

Ahh, I am so glad you found it. Which Watson’s outlet did you go to? I was at Watson’s Suntec City yesterday and couldn’t find it there. I was even wondering if they might have discontinued it.
Well, the good thing about this, it is about 1/10th the price of a Clarisonic, ahahaa.
I bought it from the Paya Lebar Post Centre outlet because it’s the nearest to my house. Do they sell replacement brush heads? If not I can type an email to them asking them to.=)

Phyllis, my cousin who works at the SingPost building is looking for a room to rent around the area.
Would you happen to know of any available? She is a 29-yo executive at Visa.

Haha, I haven’t seen any replacement brush head for sale. Would be interesting to find out their reply to your email. Have you written to them before?
I finally saw it for sale, at Watson’s Bedok Central. And the price is much cheaper, SG$9.99 if I remember correctly. Soooo affordable.
