Recently, I read in the news that an HDB unit in Clementi was sold for almost a million dollars. An HDB is considered public housing in Singapore and was meant to be affordable for every person of every income.
So how did a public housing unit become a haven for the wealthy? According to the agent, the buyer was willing to pay any price. All he wanted was a room with a view.
Well, this is the view we get from our HDB unit in Bedok. It is a penthouse, a super-sized unit (two HDB units renovated to become one), a corner unit, and with only two neighbours. Oh, and it is a 2-minute walk to the bus interchange (inclusive of time spent in the lift getting from the top floor to the bottom), which is across the road from the MRT station.

Million dollar HDBS.. sighz.. how can young parents in Singapore affordable to stay in Singapore?
Really tempted to buy a landed property in KL and it is also freehold.
Yes, it is good for the seller, and the buyer has the money to pay for it.
But it going to get other HDB sellers thinking, why don’t I try and advertise my HDB flat for million of dollars?
Got buyers right?
