Getting to the Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul

By the time this post is published, I would have just landed in Seoul, Korea. It’s Sunday morning and I hope to be able to visit the Yoido Full Gospel Church.

This is perhaps the most influential church in Asia. Her Senior Pastor, Cho Yonggi, have preached in Singapore and Malaysia and I have heard nothing but praise for this man by my friends and senior pastors who have heard him share his personal stories.

When I first found out that the church is on an island in Seoul, I thought I will never be able to find my way there. Islands just seem so remote to me and impossible to get to, to me. But then I found the directions on how to get there online and it looks really simple. You can even get there directly from the airport by taking the airport bus! I won’t be doing that though as I don’t want to be taking up three seats in the church just for luggages.

I have printed out the map, directions and services schedule but I’ve also uploaded the PDF file here for future reference: How-to-get-to-Yoido-Full-Gospel-Church. Feel free to download if you’re going there too.

I’m excited!

  1. Isnt that the church right across the street from our hotel? Did you go there?

/wille – the guy on your right :)

  2. Wow! We have heard of him here in Europe too, and we read his books! Great church!

    • Paul, when you are there, you will be humbled and surprised by how prayerful they are. The Pastors are required to pray for 3 hours a day, and the members are required to pray an hour.

Even though the service is traditional, the power is unmistakable. I hope you get to visit some day.

  3. Senior Pastor Cho Yonggi preach at Calvary Church many times leh.

  4. How far away is the church from the airport? A group from Fiji is planning to go tothe Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem this year, on stopping over at Korea we plan to visit Prayer Mountain. Is this possible?

    • Hi Mat, the church is about 20 minutes from the airport. Just tell one of the airport bus attendants where you want to go, he will help you. From the church, you can take a free bus to prayer mountain. I am not sure how far is the prayer mountain as I didn’t go there. After attending the Sunday Service at Yoido Full Gospel Church, there is a briefing for visiting foreigners where they will explain to you all about prayer mountain including how to get there and where to stay while you are there.

    • Shalom Mat.

  5. Hi was it hard to get in, since the church has such a large following i figured it would be hard to find a seat, i'm guessing you need to be there extremely early right?

    • Hi Eshan, don't worry about getting a seat. There is a special place for foreigners/visitors, when you get there, the usher will guide you. Plenty of seats for us!
