Have you stood with your feet on the sand in the sea? Every time a wave sweeps in, an inch of sand slides away from under your feet, and you sink.

Though it may feel as though you’re standing on flighty sand, you’re really standing on a rock that could never in a million years slip off from under your feet.

So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. Therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape.
