Rabu’s Obituary
Yesterday, I was thrilled to see Rabu hopping from floor to pineapple chunk to tree branch and even scaling the wall of its cage like Spiderman. Previously, Rabu have been keeping to itself at a far corner. It must have been distressed to be separated from its birth mother, and now having to adapt to a new place.
This morning, Rabu was hopping all over its cage and squawking loudly which was quite a relieve for all of us who have been stopping work to peer at it every 15 minutes. We were so fascinated with it.
But at around 11:45am when I went to chat with it again, I saw that Rabu was no longer on its feet. Its body was leaning heavily against the pineapple.
Not knowing what to do, I alerted everyone and Suzana picked it up to care for it.
I was taken aback when Rabu tipped its head backwards and gaped its mouth to receive the food in Suzana’s hand, just like how a baby bird does when it is expecting to receive a yummy worm from its mummy.

My knees went weak. Rabu is a lot younger than I thought.

Despite eating hungrily, Rabu couldn’t gather any more strength to stand on its feet. 30 minutes later, Rabu closed its eyes and was gone, just like that.
Rabu was with us for two and a half days. It’s passing feels too soon and too quick. It is part of my family. Many thoughts are running through my head even as I type this obituary. What were the mistakes made? I think I know.
I have assumed that Rabu is old enough to eat and drink on its own as long as food and water is provided. But Rabu is a baby and the way to care for a baby bird is different from the way to care for a bird. I wish I’d known earlier.
Rabu is missed.

Leng, So sad to hear that. I was really hoping to see Rabu jumping happily around in his luxurious home when I am back.
It is just too bad.
Heartbreaking to hear of this. RIP Rabu!
Thanks Krisandro. If only Rabu knew how many fans it had.
last time Chirpy http://www.lifeadventurez.com/?p=397 also like that…according to our neighbour that have birds the bird die because we over feed it, normally baby bird, 2 or 3 worms is enough…
Um, I’d rather trust the online guide than your neighbor’s. :P
Would you please allow my son, Nathan, to use the baby Myna picture in his 5th grade report? Thank you so much for your consideration. Nathan's Mom, Linda
