Don’t Watch DayWatch Without A Pen And NotePad

I’m not sure if the creators of Day Watch are imaginative, or demon possessed. There is a fine line between the two. This movie is like taking as many unfathomable elements as possible and stringing them together to create a unique storyline. Without giving away the plot of the movie, here are just some of the weird stuff we had to sit through:-

  • A torch light that can kill vampires

  • A life rubber doll with spidery legs that you can bribe with food
  • A chalk that can rewrite your fate
  • The dead Gengis Khan’s son-in-law
  • Vampires who suck human blood out with a needle and store them in tetrapak for convenient sipping later
  • A foil yo-yo that you can use to store anger to be unleashed when powerful enough
  • A butcher who can throw meat on the wall to leave blood stains that automatically reshape into bloody writing on the wall
  • And much much more…

I totally agree with the BBC reviewer that you might want to bring a notepad and a pen to the cinema when you catch this movie because “this is hellishly complicated stuff.”

However, I have to admit that with all these unthinkable elements, there are thousands of plotlines that could have been written and the one that ended up as Day Watch is probably the most stylish possible. I am quite in awe of the production and am not surprised that more than two million Russians have rushed to catch the show.
