A pictorial guide to the best Asam Pedas

Step One: Choose the freshest fish from the ice-box and feel gleeful that your fish is the most delicious of the pile.

Step Two: Immediately after choosing the fish, take a seat and allow yourself to be served a generous plate of white rice with a Telur Masin on the side. Stare at the food longingly while waiting for the Asam Pedas. You will vividly visuaze mouth-watering Asam Pedas which will kickstart your saliva glands.

Step Three: Presentation makes the difference between heaven and hell. Make sure when the Asam Pedas arrives, it bubbles in the pot and mesmerizes everyone for three to five minutes.

Step Four: Wait patiently for your turn to scoop a little bit of everything and lay it atop your fluffy rice - a piece of melted Tomato, a small Bendi, a few strands of Kacang Panjang, and a chunk of Ikan. Most importantly, lavishly pour at least five scoops of soup over it all.

Step Five: Do you really need help at this point? Dig in!

Step Six: Savor until the pot is almost empty, then lift the pot with both your hands and bottoms up!
