Dinner at Cafe Cartel, Plaza Singapura

Last night, Nic and I were in Plaza Singapura. By the time we could eat, the only restaurant still open was Cafe Cartel.

I love eating here because they serve the most scrumptious bread in Singapore. I asked Nic not to order too much because I wanted to stuff my face with fresh-out-of-oven bread and not much else.

Nic got us one set of pork ribs and one plate of spicy pasta.

I asked the waitress if there’s student price. She wanted to know why would we ask such a question. Now why would the waitress ask us why would we ask such a question?

We got $1.39 off the $13.90 pasta with the student card.

Which pimple cream is more effective?

When I was very young, my brother told me of his schoolmate who suffered from really bad acne. The teenage boy went to consult a dermatologist who provided a very harsh but effective treatment for acne. The treatment was so harsh, the skin on his face dried, peeled and cracked after that.

Since my skin is dehydrated instead of oily, I have never suffered any major problems with acne. I get one embarrassingly huge pimple right on top of my nose every once in a while though, so I still need to know the various acne treatment available.

I have noticed that despite the huge price difference between various brands, most carry the same percentage of salicyclic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Despite that, some of my friends swear by Proactiv which apparently works when others don’t.

Is there a difference between the various brands I’m not aware of? What’s your experience?

Baby Xin Yi came to visit!

Yesterday, Nic’s sister came around with her hubby and her baby. All of a sudden, the adults in the house who are usually very serious and very busy with very important work started talking mushy baby talk, singing cheery baby songs and playing senseless baby games such as peekaboo.

I Cycled from East Coast Park to Bedok Town and Think I’m Still Alive

Last weekend, I wanted to cycle at East Coast Park but Nic said it’s too dangerous to get there by bike while Lennie said I’ll never be able to finish all 20km. Hm!

Then, Nic offered to cycle the bicycle there for me while I drive there with Kero Khoo. What a sweet surprise.

We met at Bedok Jetty where Nic & Kero acted like long lost lovers. They went off to McCafe, I went off to Changi Beach.

This weekend, I wanted to cycle at East Coast Park again. Nic dropped me and the bicycle off at one end of ECP, I rode till the other end before heading home by myself.

Female Cyclist

Now that I’ve tried the route out, I don’t think it is dangerous at all. I didn’t need to get on the road, there’s a bumpy pedestrian walkway for cyclists to use.

There are tough bits though.

From the top of the pedestrian bridge. Which way\'s home again?

After crossing over this highway via a walkway above it, I need to go all the way down, even into a pedestrian underpass under this highway via a steep flight of stairs.

I’m going to hit the Publish button now. If this post appears on my blog, I didn’t die!

Unless I Say Something Now, This is How My New Room Will Look

Remember the Precious Blockbuster Home Renovation? My Dad emailed pictures of how the interior designer feels my new room should look. Click to see the images in full size.

How to arrange bedroom furniture layout

To be honest, I don’t have any opinion of the furniture layout right now. If you have any opinion, do share with me. I need all the help I can get and plan to visit a few interior design and home renovation sites for a dose of inspiration.

American Home Craft is one website I’m looking at right now. It has established an impeccable reputation in California and provides furniture that’s designed and engineered with only the highest quality materials and workmanship.

Best of all, American Home Craft products and processes meet some of the highest standards for environmental friendliness. Where applicable, American Home Craft provides only the most energy efficient products available.

Help! I’m Stuck at Home!

I can’t go out today because no one’s home. Well, I can, but Kero will get scared which means she will howl and cry and scratch her nails against the door, which means the neighbors will get scared because it’s sounds just like Sadako trying to crawl her way out of the well.

It’s almost 8pm and I’m hungry even though I had a tall glass of Iced Milo two hours ago. Since I’m stuck here, my only option is to have food brought to me. I did a search and found mcdelivery.com.sg. It’s brilliant, you can even track your Order Status by entering your Order ID, just like DHL. Unfortunately,

  • A $3.00 surcharge applies for every McDelivery order.
  • Only Credit card payment (VISA/MasterCard) is available for web order. We are unable to accept payment by Debit card at this time.
  • For quality reasons, we do not deliver Vanilla Cones.

Bummer, I think my credit card doesn’t work online. For extra security, my bank had required I take an extra step to enable it for online transactions which I didn’t bother to back then. I guess I could call them instead, but I’m not so into Mackers because it takes forever to digest.

Help! I’m stuck at home! Without any dinner! Hey, that reminds me to feed Kero. Hey, that reminds me of… dog food?

How to Recognize an Entrepreneur

A husband of a friend owns a small business that provides business computer repair.

This is normally very straightforward.

You figure out how to fix computers, hire someone to collect and return computers, market the service to nearby businesses, and collect the money that’s rolling in!

However, because this guy is the entrepreneurial type, he’s found more than one way to make money from one single service.

Firstly he provides computer repair services. Secondly he provides training on computer repair. Thirdly he sells his own e-books on computer repair. I’m sure he’s thinking of franchise opportunity as well. The list goes on and on…

What to Do When Your Credit Rating’s Slipped A Little

BadCreditOffers.com is a comparison website for people with bad credit. It was conceived and created to serve as an online guide for consumers with a less-than-perfect credit rating.

The company claims that staff here monitors the online marketplace to bring you the top “bad credit” offers available. Each offer presented is carefully selected based on factors such as ease of approval, interest rate, and other key features. In many cases, the company work directly with the credit issuer to provide direct links to their online applications. Consumers can apply for bad credit loans, bad credit credit cards or any other offer that’s right for them, and by making payments on time they can start down the road toward rebuilding their credit and, perhaps, their financial future.

In addition to opportunities offered by card providers and other lenders, BadCreditOffers.com also empower consumers with the ability to learn more about their credit history and to discuss their individual credit outlook with a qualified expert. Just refer to the credit report and credit counseling sections for more on these resources.

My Detox Experience

Nic’s Mum is a health nut and so am I, but she’s a bit more nutty than I am. A few times now, she’s invited me to flush my colon with a glass of Melilea powdered beverage. If you haven’t tried it before, Meliliea is a green drink distributed by an MLM company over here. Here’s how a formidable bottle looks.

a-bottle-of-melilea-powdered-beverage.jpg

Inside every bottle is 458 grams of green powder. When something tastes this horrid, 458grams takes forever to complete. This bottle has been in the kitchen for more than a year and there’s still a quarter of it left!

The green powder inside a bottle of Melilea

With Nic’s Mum’s encouragement, I greet it early in the morning and mix two scoops with water. Now you know why I’m not a morning person.

A tall glass of Melilea. Yum!

After mixing it with water, the green powder turns to thick green goo. The drink is so filling, it replaces any potentially delicious breakfasts.

Me bravely gulping down a tall glass of Melilea

Here’s me downing a glass of Melilea. It’s bottom’s up all the way because you don’t want to stop and let the taste linger. In fact, you might want to gargle with Listerine twice when you’re done with it.

I have to admit even though it is a yucky drink, it is genuinely effective in colon cleanse. Try it, I’m sure you’ll be smiling at your toilet bowl within hours.
