Should I Cut and Curl my Hair?

Years ago I had curly hair. (I know it’s impossible to imagine that now, so here’s a photo to help).

me-with-curly-hair.jpg

The good thing about curly hair is that it’s big and I like hair as inflated as a fully blown balloon. Now that I’ve had the same straight hair for almost two years, I’m thinking of a change. I have two ideas:-

  1. Cut a fringe
  2. Curl my hair

Should I? Shouldn’t I?

Why Men Should Buy Health Insurance

Recently, a few older friends have shared through their blogs and with me personally their experience caring for a terminally-ill spouse. You know what? When your life partner is on his death bed, you’ll want to spend every waking moment with him. Some of my friends did that. She helped him to shift his position on the bed every few hours and rub medicated oil on the areas where it’s sore on his body. With so little time left, every little thing she could do for him was a precious act of love.

But I’m not blind. I also know there are some women who spend every waking moment working when their spouses are dying and it’s not because they want to but because the medical bills are so deadly. If you knew your spouse only had three months to live, will you want to be in the office? Not me, so I’m starting to think health insurance is worth it. It’s no secret that women live longer than men.

If you are starting to think so too, click to read Florida healthcare plan benefits from People’s Health Insurance, a licensed insurance agency whose agents are fully trained and certified. Precious at Sixteen

Oversized shirt, short crop, simple gold studs for earrings. Here’s Precious at sixteen!

I didn’t even meet Tan Hong Ming’s high standard. (He likes girls with long hair tied into ponytails).

Enjoy the view!

My Personality Type

I was one of those girls you’d love to hate in high school. When I smile, I flash two rows of perfectly-sized, perfectly-spaced pearly white teeth. I was almost a Helen of Troy, the face that launches a thousand ships.

NOT!

Admittedly I had low-maintenance teeth *ahem*, but I was (and some say still am), a nerd. The only club I knew was the Leo Club. The only high society I joined was the English Literary & Debating Society. As a Girl Guide, I won the “Best Camper” award at the Rover’s Venture Camp .

You would think people change with age, but the Peter Parker type of blood still seems to run in my veins. I haven’t been to any of the MOS or St James Power Station and it’s not because I have any skewed view of it but because I indulge by wearing flannel pajamas and reading Philip Yancey paperbacks.

I guess having low-maintenance teeth helps with going through the competitive school girl years without much effort. For those who are not as blessed, may I suggest Beverly Hills tooth whitening services. *ahem*

The List of Things that Offends Muslims

Some of the things on this list includes

  • Peanut butter and jam sandwiches served in prison
  • The new Apple store in Manhattan
  • The passport photo of a five-year-old girl

Does this list accurately portray Islam? To be honest, I don’t know. Even though I live among Muslims, as a non-Muslim, I am in the dark about what my closest neighbors feel about these things.

That’s the problem, isn’t it? How is it possible that I live side by side with Muslims, work with them, shop with them, laugh with them, enjoy a Slingers’ game with them, yet know nothing about their values and beliefs? Is Islam so confusing that even my Muslim friends couldn’t find the words to share it?

If you are Muslim, I hope to hear your honest thoughts about the hundreds of things on this ever-expanding list.

Live in a closet in the City? Or live in a spacious home far away?

Do you prefer living near work but in a tiny room? Or living further away but in a spacious home?

I understand that when you’re so exhausted from work, all you want is to collapse on the nearest clean bed. But for me, when I’m stressed out from work, all I want is the nearest spa or sanctuary to relax in. Wouldn’t it be ideal if I could turn my own home into a private spa for myself? *dreamy*

In London, first-time buyers are now told to commute to save money.

First-time buyers in London should look to commute into the city in order to save money, according to Hamptons International.

Research from the estate agents has suggested that first-time buyers will get better value for money if they by outside of the capital and commute into it for work.

Dulwich is being touted as a good location to buy, with properties there starting at £235,000 compared to £815,000 for a three-bed flat in London.

The research also revealed that investors and landlords who are looking for property outside the capital can find the highest yields in Brighton and St Albans.

Rob Bruce, research manager at Hamptons International said: “In the context of the current market, this research provides an optimistic signal for long-term buy-to-let investors hungry to build a property portfolio.”

He added that despite the increase in the cost of capital, rental levels “continue to escalate above house price inflation, pushing yields higher”.

Hamptons International has been established for 130 years.

I suppose before making such a big decision, you should compare mortgages. If the difference is only slight, then we should take the nicer home further away. If the difference is major, all the more we should take the cheaper home further away.

I Got Tricked by Birds!

One thing I love about my room is the flock of Mynahs who live outside my window. They seem to get into a heated argument all the time, just like cranky old couples. Whenever I listen to them deafening each other with their squeaking chirps, I will LOL at them.

I mean what could be so important to lose a feather over? Did the other Mynah take the best spot on the wire? Oooh la la, hell hath no mercy!

Yesterday, I sat at my window to observe them. Guess what? I think the flock of Mynahs outside my window? It’s only two birds! The rest are some kind of clips attached to the wire. I’ve always thought those clips were birds!

I feel so -_-

Shooting People is Fun!

It’s been a few years since I’ve pointed a gun at someone and shot him down. I remember traveling to a secluded jungle where we divided ourselves into teams. It got a little scary because one guy on the other team came fully equipped.

He pulled on his black Empire 2008 Contact SE Gloves and my heart skipped a beat.

He pulled on his blue Smart Parts Defender Jersey, my heart skipped another beat.

He pulled on his chest protector, elbow knee pad, neck protector, my heart raced like a crazy horse!

The only thing he didn’t come with was his own US ARMY Alpha Black Basic Tippmann 98 Custom Gun. Like the rest of us, he used the cheap paintball guns that the organizer had provide.

I’ve never seen all these equipment sold anywhere before, he told me he bought them online. You can find Tippmann, Spyder, Smart Parts, Dye, Empire, Draxxus paintball gear plus many more brands on the Ultimate Paintball site. Top selling guns are Tippmann A-5, Tippmann 98 Custom, Smart Parts Ion and Spyder Pilot ACS.

After the game, I came home with a few bruises on the widest part of my body - my butt! I don’t remember if we won, but I must confess having Nic on my team was a greater asset that having all the gears that this guy brought. You see, Nic was the only one among us who ever received sniper training thanks to the compulsory National Service in his country, Singapore.

What Kind of Bride Will You Be?

Lili told me her dream is to wear a white satin gown on her wedding day. I was so surprised. I thought all brides dream of wearing white lace, no?

Then I remembered this quiz she sent me on Facebook.

what-kind-of-bride.jpg

Surprise, surprise! The results that I got (above) are the complete opposite of Lili’s (below).

unconventional-bride.jpg

Now I understand. There are some women who prefer traditional weddings and there are some who prefer a fun-filled one. God created each of us unique!

Previously, I had excitedly said to Lili how she *must* wear a traditional Kua for her wedding but now I realize, a modern and glamorous gown may be a better fit to let her personality and inner beauty shine. I feel sorry now to have suggested wearing a traditional Kua. Lili, If it’s not your personal choice, you don’t have to feel obliged!

Sign Up for a Five Week Course on Labelling

I’ve always known it’s important to organize but I never knew you can sign up for a five-week course on labelling just to stay organized. Amazed? So am I!

The labelling 101 course is created by Linda Koopersmith who is known as the Beverly Hills Organizer. She has appeared as a co-host and organizational expert on The Style Networks hit series, Clean House. Since starting her business in 1989, Linda has helped thousands of clients organize their homes and offices. She is the author of the Beverly Hills Organizer’s Home Organizing Bible.

I’m so curious about this course, I’ve signed up for it myself.

Linda is teaming up with Dymo, a supplier of label makers for home, office and industrial use. I like their personal label maker with qwerty keyboard. I’m guessing you can use it to create postage stamps and for simple printing of labels. You can also purchase online stamps through the site.

If you are running a small business, I’m convinced that a Dymo label writer will help you out.
